Our Story
From Bayou Roots to Wine Country
Welcome to The Parish Café. Bienvenue!
Since 2012, The Parish Café has served traditional Louisiana cuisine in Sonoma County. We pride ourselves on combining authentic Cajun and creole ingredients with the local abundance of fresh food found here in Sonoma County.
The Parish Café, 1 block from the Healdsburg Plaza downtown, is located in a house built in the 1870’s, lending a unique dining setting like no other in Healdsburg. The restaurant features multiple dining areas indoors, a covered wrap around porch, and large patio area that is perfect for hosting large parties or great for families with children.
Rob and Karla Lippincott founded the restaurant to bring Rob’s New Orleans food style and tastes to combine with Karla’s Healdsburg/Sonoma flavors. Starting with humble beginnings by selling beignets at local Farmers’ Markets, the couple then opened The Parish Café. Over the years, the restaurant established itself as being the go-to for authentic New Orleans food in Sonoma County and beyond. We feature Gulf Coast seafood alongside locally crafted, custom po'boy bread.
In 2021 the restaurant changed hands to new owners and longtime customers Lynette and Gareth Owens. Having spent many Sundays with family and friends enjoying beignets and breakfast on the patio, the Owens wanted to ensure that The Parish Café was here to stay for the local community after the Lippincott's returned to the South. Working closely with the previous owners during the transition, the Owens' goal was to maintain the integrity of The Parish Café and continue the dedication to high-quality and authentic food, while creating a relaxed and comfortable environment for our guests. The addition to the menu of some terrific local wines and special events with local chefs adds to the restaurant’s attraction.
Today, the restaurant is run by Gareth Owens with Chef Mike Ruffino. Gareth started at age 16 as a dishwasher for a summer job and has since held just about every restaurant job there is. Much of his career was spent in the wine side of the industry where he worked in wine distribution, retail, purchasing and wine list/menu curation. The last 3 years Gareth has taken time away from the restaurant each spring to work as Sommelier for Augusta National Golf Course during The Masters tournament, helping run one of the exclusive Members Only restaurants on property. Chef Ruffino joined The Parish team in October of 2022, shortly after the close of the beloved Campo Fina. Ruffino worked at Campo Fina and Scopa for over a decade, while also spending time at Farmhouse early in his career. He shares the same passion and understanding as Gareth and Lynette that great food starts with the best ingredients prepared and created in house. Lynette Owens brings invaluable experience from years of hosting events and dining around the world to ensure that the guest experience at The Parish Café is comfortable, courteous, and professional.
Supported by a wonderful staff, The Parish Café looks forward to providing top tier service and authentic cuisine.
